Watchtower

I was walking alone in a neglected and derelict neighborhood of a vast metropolis. Many of the houses and apartment buildings were from the 1930s, 40s, or 50s.

As I walked along, I observed their architecture and noted that many were of the art deco, modernist, or contemporary styles.

After wandering for what felt like days, I noticed that it was always dark. It was always night here.

It grew foggy, and I noticed there were shadowy figures following me. I grew uneasy and anxious, and I eventually came to two especially tall buildings. On one side of the street was a hotel tower that was of the art deco style, lit up with red and yellow neon lights. On the other side of the street was another tower that was a contemporary style, but it was cracking and peeling. Part way up, I saw a red door with no stairs leading to it, and I got sinister vibes from it, as if it were watching me.

I went into the hotel to get a room. The lobby was empty, and there was no one at the desk. There were keys laid out on the desk, so I took one and went up to find the corresponding room.

Once I got into my room, I could see the other tower out the window. There were only a few windows in the whole tower, and in one of them, I saw a detective looking at my room, and that he was wearing headphones.

I got angry, and left the room. When I got down to the lobby, there was a SWAT team and some Army soldiers in a waiting area who were pretending to not be watching my every move, although it was very obvious to me.

When I was outside in the street, I saw a cop watching me from his car. On the side of it, it read "Adamstown Police". In a sarcastic manner, I waved at him and went on my way, but he started chasing me.

I ran across the street to the sinister tower, and climbed up the wall to where the red door was. Finding that the door was locked, I broke the pane of glass and unlocked it and went inside.

The interior was empty and hollow, and the Adamstown cop was already (somehow) inside looking for me. I could vaguely hear him shouting that I was guilty, but it wasn't clear what of.

Being high up inside the hollow shell tower and on a balcony, I felt trapped, so I decided to kill myself.

I jumped off the interior balcony, but instead of falling, I floated down and landed in a pile of discarded navy blue Egyptian cotton sheets.

Angry that I didn't die, I set fire to the pile of sheets, so I could burn with them.

Then I woke up. THE END.
