It had been several days since I had escaped the Lostrooms Apartments after having been missing for several days. I was curled up on a couch with Katherine and her sister Rebekah on either side of me. I was going through the data that was on the mysterious laptop that I had discovered while in the complex.
We were browsing through the extensive list of enigmatic creatures that dwelled within the extradimensional realm known as the Backrooms. I had told Kat and Bekah about the turquoise cat I had encountered while lost, and how it led me to an exit.
Katherine, a veterinarian, was intrigued by the bizarre creatures, and she expressed an interest in capturing and studying them. I suggested we go back to the Lostrooms Apartments to see if we could capture the turquoise cat for academic purposes. I had previously used a can of cat food to get it to come to me, so perhaps this could work.
According to data that D.A.R.B. had already collected, many of the creatures in the Backrooms were elusive and nearly impossible to capture. The Department of Anomalous Research of Backrooms had groups within that operated on their own, performing specific tasks. The largest of these groups was called L.E.G., which was the Limitless Exploration Group. However, we found no such group that specialized in the capture, care, and study of extradimensional creatures.
Then, Kat and I had the idea for a new D.A.R.B. group. It would be a team of qualified veterinarians who would proactively search for injured creatures, as well as study their peculiar nature while either in their natural habitat or in captivity. This group would be known as the Kennel Acquisition Team, or K.A.T.
Clueless as to what we would be getting ourselves into with the new ambition, we decided to return to the Lostrooms Apartments. Kat gathered up some supplies and a black and blue portable cat kennel. Kat planned to capture it and bring it back to her veterinary lab for study.
Bekah came with us to help, and we went back to the Lostrooms Apartments to see if we could capture the turquoise cat. Once we arrived at the building, we went inside and made our way down the enigmatic corridor of empty apartments.
I led the sisters to the same apartment where I had previously first seen the turquoise cat, and then we sat and waited. And waited. And waited. We had brought a few cans of cat food, so Kat set one out to attract the cat.
As we waited, the two sisters and I brainstormed ideas for future Backrooms exploration shenanigans.
Eventually, the turquoise cat showed up, and it ate from the can of cat food. Once it had it's fill, we herded it into the portable kennel. As we approached the exit to the building, the cat suddenly became so heavy that we could not move the kennel. It seemed as if the cat could not be removed from this interdimensional building.
We released the cat from it's kennel, and we decided to simply follow and observe it's behavioral traits. This was Katherine's very first K.A.T. task.

Katherine returned to the Lostrooms Apartments periodically over several weeks to further observe the turquoise cat. Her findings revealed that the turquoise cat was a benevolent entity that had empathetic powers and acted as a guide for those that were lost.
She observed other explorers, who had become lost in the apartments. They were all led by the turquoise cat to an exit where they had the opportunity to escape to freedom, or they were led to supplies that could pamper them and provide relief.
Thus, Katherine named the turquoise cat "Pamper-Puss".
I entered the data into the Entity database for D.A.R.B., and so the very first K.A.T. entry was created.

The amount of Levels to explore were apparently infinite, and there would be so much to explore. I knew it was possible to get deeper into the Backrooms by going up ladders into a void via any of the Lostrooms Apartments closets. However, it seemed too risky to do so, as there was no way of knowing what dangers lay beyond.
I wanted to explore as a team with Katherine and her two sisters, Rebekah and Ilayda.
Who knows what would come next...
